Frequently Asked Questions

  • SLO x FORM is a 50 minute low-impact yet high-intensity full-body workout. The workout is performed on a machine called an XFormer that uses spring load tension for resistance. Our method is focused on fatiguing your muscles through slow, controlled movements to build lean muscle. Our classes are designed to sculpt, strengthen, and tone your entire body.

  • Unlike reformer or mat Pilates which are more restorative and are geared towards rehabilitation; SLO x FORM resembles strength training moves like lunges, squats, planks, bicep curls, etc. Similar to traditional Pilates, we are a low-impact workout, however, unlike traditional Pilates, we are also a high-intensity workout. Our method is focused on fatiguing your muscles through slow, controlled movements to build lean muscle. The method works slow-twitch muscle fibers to fatigue and combines strength training with cardiovascular exercise. The continuous movement throughout class with minimal rest in between moves keeps your heart rate elevated throughout class similar to how a cardio workout would. It is unlike any workout you’ve done before— get ready to feel your muscles shake, burn, and strengthen!

  • You’ll need grip socks (don’t worry if you don’t have any, we sell them at the studio), comfy workout clothes, water, and a workout towel (optional). If wearing loose fitness shorts, we recommend wearing compression shorts underneath.

  • Yes! SLO x FORM is modifiable for all fitness levels. If you are experienced, we also offer many options to push yourself to the next level so you are always challenged. If you are new to the method, we do recommend trying one of our “Intro” classes first. These go over the fundamentals of the method in more detail so you can get comfortable on the machine and introduced properly to the method. We recommend these intro classes for your first 1-5 classes, or more if desired.

  • Yes! SLO x FORM is looking for new and experienced modern Pilates instructors to join their team! If you have ever thought about becoming a fitness instructor, now is the time!   • Our cancellation window is 12 hours. For example, if you booked a class for 9am on January 2nd, you must cancel before 9pm on January 1st in order to cancel without penalty.

    For Memberships: If you cancel after the 12-hour window, you will incur an $18 fee. If you miss a class, you will incur a $25 fee.

    For Class Packages: If you cancel after the 12-hour window or miss a class, it will result in a loss of credit, meaning you will lose that class from your package.

  • The best waitlist strategy is to assume that you are coming to class.

    If a spot opens up you will automatically be enrolled and you will be notified by email or text. Please be sure that text notifications are enabled within the SLO x FORM app to ensure you get notified!

    The waitlist is active up to 2 hours before class starts. Therefore, if a spot opens up, you will automatically be put into class up to 2 hours before the class start time. Once it’s 1hr 59 min until class or sooner, you can monitor the waitlist to see if anyone drops out of class, if you see an opening, you can manually book it.

    IMPORTANT: By putting yourself on the waitlist, you acknowledge that you will be able to take the class if you get in. If you are on the waitlist and you are no longer able to attend, you need to remove yourself from the waitlist via the SLO x FORM app. There is never any penalty for removing yourself from the waitlist. However, if you do not remove yourself from the waitlist and get into class but can no longer attend, standard penalty rates apply.

  • LATE ARRIVAL POLICY- Members & Returning Clients:

    We have a 5 minute grace period for late arrivals, but after 5 minutes, entry will no longer be permitted into class and late cancellation fees may apply. The goal of this policy is to minimize disruption and maximize safety. Extremely late arrival to class results in an incomplete workout and improper warm-up which can increase chances of injury; we want to do everything possible to keep everyone safe & strong! :)‍

    LATE ARRIVAL POLICY- First Timers:

    If it is your first class at SLO x FORM or you are bringing new friends, we will not allow late entry for first timers as to avoid disruptions and prioritize safety. Please be sure to arrive at least 10 minutes early so we can properly show you the machine and get you set up for class! (Even if you’ve come to 100 classes, your first time friends need to arrive early and it’s your job to tell them that!)

    STANDBY POLICY- Applicable to ALL:

    We understand life happens and you may be running late to your class! If you are running late and will arrive within 5 minutes of the start of class, please call us so we can save your spot. If you arrive after 5 minutes of the start time, we cannot allow entry into class. If we do not hear from you and you are not there when class starts, your spot may be given up to someone on standby and late cancellation fees may apply. 

  • Please always consult your doctor first. If cleared to do so, then yes absolutely! We offer specific pregnancy modifications to support you.
